Kellie Dawn Pickler was born Kellie Dawn Pickler on the 28th of June 1986 at Stanly Memorial Hospital in Albemarle to Cynthia Morton and Clyde Raymond Pickler. When she became pregnant her mother was already at the age of 16. It was a difficult childhood for Pickler because her father was addicted to alcohol and drugs, while Pickler's mother had left her when she was just 2. Morton gained custody of Pickler for two years. However, Pickler acknowledged that not everything went well. "I was eating dinner with my mom when I asked her: 'I prefer not to die instead of staying here.' The girl took out a knife and placed it on the counter, then told me"Here's how to do it after that.' in fourth grade. The girl said "Of of course, I wouldn't do anything about the incident. It has nevertheless resulted in a variety of emotional wounds." Pickler at the time, 12-years-old, was given over to the Morton's parents following the hearing in court. Pickler was raised by her grandparents throughout her life and cited them as having the most significant influence on her life. The mother Faye Pickler died from lung cancer in the month of January, 2002. her children were to be raised by her grandfather. Pickler graduated from N Stanly High School, located which is located in New London, North Carolina.
