She's reported on the sports scene for major media outlets across the globe. The journalist spent more than a decade writing about sports for The Washington Post, including football, tennis, and basketball. Nichols joined ESPN at the beginning of 2004. She spent nine years there, earning the network two Emmy Awards. She also appeared on the most popular programs on ESPN such as SportsCenter or NFL Countdown. Nichols was a reporter at TNT at the time, in charge of NBA broadcasts like playoff games, regular season games or teams from the All-Star league. In addition to covering for TBS and TNT, she also reported on baseball and golf broadcasts and Final Four on CBS. It was the only time in the award's 42-year-old record that a woman is selected from the over 200 nominations.
